We are gearing up for another vacation away! This time, we are headed to Jekyll Island, GA. We have visited there twice before (once pre-kids and once for a overnight trip WITH the kids). It’s a great stopping point when traveling back from Florida (which is exactly what we used it for).
Unfortunately, when we visited in January, it was extremely chilly! We made the best of it.. but we are certainly looking forward to some warmer weather this time around!
When sitting down to plan this trip, a blog post idea came to mind: advanced tickets. Having traveled a good bit during COVID, I’ve see a new trend emerge involving ticket purchases. In an effort to limit occupancy, most museums, zoos, and aquariums have implemented a policy that allows you to pre-purchase tickets. And once they hit capacity for that time/day, that’s it!
We’ll be visiting the Riverbanks Zoo (Columbia, SC) on our way down to Jekyll.. and I’m aimed and ready to purchase tickets for that experience. Unfortunately, they do not go on sale until 10 days prior to your visit. But thankfully I have that information and will be ready at the 10 day mark! With it being Spring Break week, it’s likely to fill up quickly.
My advice to you (especially during a COVID year) would be to research all experiences that your planning to attend. All policies will be different (ticket sales, mask usage, timed entry, etc.) and it’s best to familiarize yourself with that information ahead of time!
For example: here is the Riverbanks Zoo’s current policy. It appears that mask are only required for those ages 10 and older. Additionally, mask are not required while outside (unless you are unable to maintain a 6ft distance). I would of assumed mask were required even while outside.. but policies change from state to state.

Part of Traveling on the Spectrum means being prepared. Nothing would be worse than showing up to an event and realizing that you weren’t able to gain entry! A meltdown of all meltdowns would ensue that could of been avoided with a little pre-planning! So trust me.. do the research ahead of time and set yourself up for success!
